As part of the Department of Homeland Security, FEMA works in close coordination with other Federal agencies, such as the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NSSA) when an event occurs such as the events yesterday April 1, 2014 in Grand Junction, Colorado. This cooperative effort is the basis of federal activities connected to this response.
A FEMA Regional Incident Management Assistance Team is onsite in Grand Junction in support of the lead federal agency DOE. They continue to work closely with the State of Colorado and the local community to determine any needs that may require federal support.
